If you're looking to use incantations in Elden Ring, you'll want to know which seal is right for you.
From the offset, it's vital to note that the majority of Elden Ring's best Sacred Seals are designed for specific builds, meaning the 'best' incantation seal in Elden Ring might be the worst one for you. They're required to cast incantations, and they all have different attributes. Nevertheless, it's always an advantage to know about every seal and then make that decision for yourself. Or, if you're a collector, you could just go around trying to grab as many of the best seals as you can.

Ultimately, Sacred Seals are a just type of weapon that allows you to cast some awesome incantations, typically requiring points into the Faith stat — so you may want to upgrade that if you have your heart set on a specific seal. Luckily, finding your first seal is something you shouldn't have too much trouble with. It's just finding the best seal that's the tough part.
Updated February 26, 2023, by Branden Lizardi: Incantations are one of the most diverse and varied forms of magic in the world of Elden Ring. Whether it's a strength-based beast build, becoming one with the Frenzied Flame, or you just want to maintain the Golden Order, We've gone through and updated parts of this list to ensure that you have all the best information available to you.
9 Finger Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
10 Faith, 4 Strength | C Faith, D Strength | None | Bought from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold for 800 Runes |
The Finger Seal is a starter weapon for the Confessor and Prophet classes. Even so, it's still pretty impressive no matter what build you go for. It's probably one of the best incantation seals for those who avoid investing heavily in incantations and only really use them if they either remember they exist.
Nevertheless, the Finger Seal is ideal for any early-game character since it doesn't provide any specialized buff improvements. It's easily upgradable and scales well with Faith — just don't expect it to grant you any buffs to your incantation spells.
8 Giant's Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
14 Faith, 4 Strength | D Faith, E Strength | Boost both Fire Giant and Fire Monk incantations | Found in the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave after a battle with the Fire Monk |
Almost the direct opposite of the Finger Seal, the Giant's Seal is one you'll only be able to get relatively late in the game. With all the effort of finding it, compared to the kind of power it gives you, it's not great. It's only really good for those who love using a bit of fire.
The Giant's Seal boosts Flame incantations, which can be ideal for a very specific type of player. Its weapon scaling is in line with the Finger Seal, so don't expect to increase in power instantly. A seal like this being that late in the game seems a little pointless, but if you get north of the Erdtree quickly, it could be useful.
7 Frenzied Flame Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
None | B Faith, C Strength/ Intelligence/Dexterity | Boost your Frenzied Flame incantation but also builds madness | Given to you when completing the Irina, Edgar, and Hyetta questline. |
Another seal that buffs flame incantations, this one focuses more on the Frenzied Flame incantations if that's the style you prefer to play. It also causes a pretty impressive Madness buildup, so it is relatively niche and predominantly for PvP.

Nevertheless, when it comes to weapon scaling, it's extremely versatile and generally performs well. This Sacred Seal is great for players who choose to go between Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence, and of course, Faith.
6 Gravel Stone Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
18 Faith, 4 Strength | C Faith, E Strength | Boosts Dragon Cult incantations | Kill the Lance Wielding Knight in Leyndell, Royal Capital |
The Gravel Stone Seal is another Sacred Seal you can get later in the game. However, unlike other seals, this one is worth getting, particularly if you like casting Dragon Cult incantations. The only problem is that trying to get it sucks. You'll need to kill the knight just past the West Capital Rampart site of grace.
It may be a pain to get, but once you have the Gravel Stone Seal, you can cast some impressive Dragon Cult incantations. This is perfect if you like throwing a little bit of Lightning. It just would have been great to cast those more powerful spells on the knight you just killed to get it.
5 Golden Order Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
17 Faith, 17 Strength | D Faith, D Strength | Boosts Fundamentalist incantations | Found on a body near the Minor Erdtree Church |
Many of these Sacred Seals are a real challenge to get hold of, and the Golden Order Seal is no different. You'll only be able to obtain it later in the game, near the Minor Erdtree Church. However, if you like mixing around your incantations and sorceries, then you need to get hold of this seal.
It's perfect for any hybrid caster who predominantly focuses on Faith and Intelligence since the scaling for those stats is impressive. The Golden Order Seal boosts all your Fundamentalist incarnations, the majority of which are a real challenge to get and cast. So it's a lot of work, but it's worth it.
4 Godslayer's Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
27 Faith, 4 Strength | C Faith, E Strength | Boosts Goskin Apostle incantations and Black Fame incantations | Found in Stormveil Castle, inside a locked door |
If you thought traveling all the way to the Erdtree and fighting knights was a tough way to get some seals, you haven't tried to get the Godslayer Seal yet. Despite being one of the most well-rounded seals in the game, you need to defeat Margit before you even consider acquiring it.

That said, it has fantastic weapon scaling and pretty impressive damage output. The Godslayer's Seal will (naturally) grant a buff to any Godslayer incantations you choose to use. The only issue is that you'll need a whopping 27 Faith before you can use it, making it a little hard for those who chose to ignore that stat.
3 Dragon Communion Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
10 Faith, 10 Arcane | D Faith, C Arcane | Boosts Dragon Communication incantations | Located in a guarded area in Fringefolk Hero's Grave |
It goes without saying that the Dragon Communion Seal serves to boost your Dragon incantations. Due to this, it can be an incredibly useful seal for those who want to dabble in both Arcane and Faith. It's also one of the earlier seals you can find, making it one of the most powerful early game seals in Elden Ring. You will still need to fight some tougher battles and look out for the Fringefolk Hero's Grave.
Due to the power and usefulness of the seal, you will need relatively high Arcane and Faith to use it. However, if you have that already, you can watch your weapon scale well, and do some great damage. If you can find any Dragon Hearts, that is.
2 Clawmark Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
10 Faith, 4 Strength | B Faith, B Strength | Boosts your Bestial incantations | The first Deathroot reward when you fight the Gurrang Beast Clergyman |
Another relatively easy and early-game seal to find; you just need to hunt for some Deathroot and give them to Gurranq. The Clawmark Seal is perfect for anyone who prefers being a bit more versatile with their attacks, focusing mainly on melee and Beast spell damage.
It will grant you a buff to your Beast incantations and has pretty impressive Strength scaling for such an early-game Sacred Seal. It's also great for those who want to get into incantations without committing to their Faith too much since it has a very low requirement.
1 Erdtree Seal
Requirements | Scaling | Buffs | Location |
---|---|---|---|
40 Faith | C Faith | None | Located in Volcano Manor at the bottom of a village. The seal can be found on a corpse inside the village itself. |
One of the best things about Elden Ring is how versatile its gameplay is. If you want to be a purely melee player, then you can — and if you want to dabble in magic, then there's a spell for that. Almost any pathway you choose with your character has a weapon or a seal to help you in your journey. This is entirely the case with purely Faith casters; their best seal is the Erdtree Seal.
This seal will make your attacks incredibly powerful and is versatile enough that it doesn't need to boost a specific school of magic. However, what it does do is give you one of the highest damage outputs for any of your incantations in just a small seal. While it may have a 40 Faith requirement, this shouldn't be an issue if you're singularly focused on incantations.
